- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup milk (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the beef: Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, then brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat and season with spices.
- Layer the casserole: Spread cooked beef in the baking dish, then arrange sliced potatoes on top.
- Add cheese & broth: Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan over potatoes, then pour beef broth around the edges. Drizzle milk for extra creaminess.
- Bake covered: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover & bake more: Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden brown.
- Garnish & serve: Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, broil the casserole for 2 minutes before serving.
- Make it spicy by adding red pepper flakes or jalapeños to the beef.
- Swap protein with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
