Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, softened (1 stick)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour (7.4 ounces)

- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ cup M&Ms
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Step 2: Add Dry Ingredients
- Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until fully incorporated.
- Fold in M&Ms, or press them on top halfway through baking for a decorative look.
Step 3: Bake & Slice
- Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down lightly.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing into squares.
